Our Kaka‘ako’s Keiki Street Festival Presented by American Savings Bank, was a blast for families and keiki of all ages! The vibrant Saturday, March 16 event filled Keawe, Auahi, and Coral streets with excitement, education, and entertainment. From engaging booths to lively performances, the festival celebrated the spirit of ‘ohana and kaiāulu (community) in the heart of Kaka‘ako.
Our Kaka‘ako Connects Keiki with Culture
Inspired by the legacy of Ke Ali‘i Bernice Pauahi Pākī Bishop, the festival aimed to provide hands-on experiences that connect keiki with nature and culture in an urban setting. It was a day filled with ‘āina-based activities, interactive shows, and educational workshops that delighted keiki and adults.

“Keiki Street Festival Presented by American Savings Bank converts Our Kaka‘ako into an exciting outdoor learning and play hub featuring diverse, immersive activities and energetic exploration,” said Pualani Hao, Planning and Development Director at Kamehameha Schools. “Connecting with the ‘āina instills a greater appreciation for our beautiful home and helps keiki have a strong foundation in culture and community.”

Live performances, local vendors, and small business products added to the festive atmosphere, making it a memorable day for everyone. American Savings Bank’s involvement brought an array of activities and entertainment, including an Inflatable Sports Center, Creative Corner, Sticker Activity, and Prize Wheel giveaways.
Activewear, Butterflies, and Crafts: The ABCs of Our Kaka‘ako
My Treehouse Club offered craft workshops for budding artists, while Paradise Monarchs provided an enlightening experience in a butterfly garden. The keiki fashion show featuring Hawai‘i-crafted activewear by Alikaleo Park was a highlight, showcasing UPF 40+ fabric.
A Celebration of Cultural and Keiki Education
Attendees were treated to various attractions, including mesmerizing hula performances by ʻAkahi Productions, traditional Hawaiian star navigation activities by Kūlaniākea, and a youth educational showcase by Kamehameha Publishing. The petting zoo from Nalo Keiki Paniolo was a hit with Joe the Goat, alpacas, lambs, mini horses, and more adorable animals.

Families also enjoyed the keiki fitness zone by Orangetheory, interactive workshops, and a dedicated bike and scooter zone for young riders. Bottles4College engaged kids in sustainability activities and scholarship opportunities, adding an educational touch to the event.
