Bark in the Park – January 2023

Feb 1, 2023 | Blog

The rain may have dampened the grass but not our spirits for Bark in the Park on Saturday, January 28! To keep everyone cozy and paws dry, we took the festivities to Bark in The Barn at SALT at Our Kaka‘ako.

Orangetheory® Fitness hosted its paw-pular pet workouts on concrete this time, which didn’t slow down the participating dogs and their humans at all! Pups zoomed through the agility course, then took a break as their owners lifted them up during squats and sit-ups — folks with bigger dogs were definitely feeling the burn. Shout out to the first cat and human pair to participate in the history of these workout classes!

My Treehouse Club brought color to the event at their Paw Paint ‘n’ Take station, where people used stamp pads and paper to create adorable keepsakes to remember the day! This pawsome craft station was a new and big hit, and we can’t wait to see what they think of next!

Our sponsors Hawai‘i State Federal Credit Union and Ali‘i Animal Hospital & Resort hooked up their new furiends with fun freebies and prize giveaways. Plenty of pups and their people sported HSFCU bandannas while enjoying Bark in the Park, and one lucky fur family took home a gift card with their winning Instagram post. Ali‘i gave away five prizes in veterinary and doggie daycare services at their booth along with a grand prize of $500 on Instagram with us.

The pop-up market was also popping, with Aloha Crisps, Chop Chop Chews, The Doggy Kitchen, Eco Pet Hawaii, K9 Secret Service, Lava Paws, mix&mutt, Pawloha, and Taste of the Tropics offering an abundance of treats, bandannas, toys, apparel, and services to get every tail wagging. Sue Chipperton Photography even set up a photo shoot for pets to say cheese and ran a guessing game contest for a free shoot. Throughout the event, our friends at 7Gradi Gelato, The Boiling Crab, Butcher & Bird, Hank’s Haute Dogs, Honolulu Beerworks, Pitch Sports Bar, and Redfish Poke Bar also offered special deals for Yappy Hour in SALT at Our Kaka‘ako, where Bark in the Park attendees could enjoy a bite to eat together.

Mahalo nui to our partners and vendors, Waiākea Hawaiian Volcanic Water for donating water to keep us hydrated, our sponsors the Kaiāulu ‘o Kaka‘ako Owners Association, Hawaiʻi State Federal Credit Union, and Ali‘i Animal Hospital & Resort, and everyone who came out in person and digitally to join in the fun! It’s always amazing to see our pet-loving community come together to support our local businesses and have a woofing good time, rain or shine.
