Bark in the Park

Jul 27, 2022 | Blog

Bark in the Park returned to many woofs and wags from furiends new and old! We had a blast seeing so many dogs on Saturday, July 23, all sizes and breeds filling the Kaloko‘eli Courtyard with their personalities.

Our friends at
Orangetheory® Fitness hosted the paw-pular pet workouts, where participating dogs and their humans ran through a quick agility course and performed a series of energetic exercises. Pups hopped up on step benches and into their owners’ arms for upsy-daisies during squats and sit-ups, then plopped down for a well-deserved break while the humans did push-ups.

The Honolulu Fire Department and the Hawaiian Humane Society joined our puppy party to raise awareness about the important topic of pet fire safety. They held talks throughout the afternoon about how to prevent fires and keep your pets safe in case of an emergency. Did you know the number one cause of home fires is cooking? You need to be especially watchful when you have pets at home who might jump onto stovetops or knock over cooking appliances. It’s also essential to have an emergency plan that includes your pets. Make sure they’re microchipped and wearing ID tags so they can be safely returned to you if they get lost in the confusion.

Lots of pups look forward to Bark in the Park for the treats, so we were happy to welcome many more small businesses to our growing pet-loving community! Aloha Crisps, Doggie’s Donut Bakery, K9 Secret Service, mix&mutt, Oahu Charms, Pawcuterie, Pop Box Hawaii, PORTS + PAWS, Pounce Hawaii, and The Doggy Kitchen joined our pop-up market. All their yummy treats and stylin’ accessories were big hits with the furry crowd! Plus, our friends at Butcher & Bird, Honolulu Beerworks, Lonohana Estate Chocolate, and Starbucks at SALT at Our Kaka‘ako offered Yappy Hour specials for all the good dogs and their owners.

Mahalo nui to our community partners and vendors who helped us take this event to the next level and to the Kaiāulu ‘o Kaka‘ako Owners Association for their sponsorship! A special shout-out to Waiakea Water for donating water, which was much appreciated on that hot summer day. And mahalo to all of you who came out to support our local businesses and have fun in the sun with your beloved furry family.
